Text2Floss is now available in four languages, with German most recently added to English, Spanish and Arabic.
There are two important upcoming events which will feature the Text2Floss app including the ADHA 2016 annual convention, held in Pittsburg, and the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH). The International Symposium on Dental Hygiene (ISDH) is held every three years under the auspices of the International Federation of Dental Hygienists (IFDH). Its purpose is to provide a forum for the understanding and discussion of issues pertaining to dental hygiene. The symposium will be in Lucern and Basel, Switzerland in June of this year .
The Western Regional Dental Convention is an annual meeting held in Arizona. It is attended by dental professionals and attracts national dental leaders and quality presenters. This year, Dr. Tony Hashemian and Azra Baab promoted Text2Floss and Ph2OH initiatives at their convention booth sponsored by ATSU.
Dr. Tony Hashemian visited Abu Dhabi to roll out the Arabic version of Text2Floss. While there, he participated in the first Give Kids a Smile, GKAS, event in the UAE at the International Center for Dental Excellence.
At the pre-conference session of the AEEDC meeting in Dubai, Dr. Tony Hashemian conducted a workshop session. The session titled, Dental Practice Growth Course: Patient Centered Promotion and Marketing Tools to Grow your Practice through Innovative Marketing Strategies emphasized whole person health through the use of social media apps.
Delta Dental of Arizona, in appreciation of the success of the Text2Floss program, provided an additional $15,000 for its use in Arizona Community Health Centers. Funding will help ensure the increase us of the Text2Floss app in CHC clinics.
2015 was a another busy year for Text2Floss. It was presented in multiple global venues from Santiago, Chile to Bangkok, Thailand as well as the UAE, Qatar, and Mexico. Text2Floss also received a 25K grant in 2015, from Delta Dental Foundation, to promote oral health via social media. In addition, an Android version of Text2Floss was recently released in Arabic in and will soon be released in IOS.
On January 21-22, Dr. Hashemian spoke about Text2Floss at the Delta Dental Community Benefit Forum for Big ideas in Scottsdale, Ariz. There he presented the benefits of integrating Text2Floss as a way to educate patients about oral health.
Dr. Tony Hashemian presented a session explaining ways to improve health literacy through the use of Text2Floss and pH2OH healthcare mobile apps and ways these can facilitate oral health education. The focus included a discussion on potential advantages of using these apps for patient oral and systemic health as well as their potential advantages and the supporting research. In addition, Dr. Hashemian shared the current science connecting salivary testing to oral and systemic health.
ASDOH also sponsored a booth the mobile apps featuring Misty Hyman, gold medalist swimmer, as the Text2Floss spokesperson.
Dr. Tony presented Ph2OH, GenieMD, Oral Health and Text2Floss at the first National Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA) Conference held mid-November in Scottsdale, Ariz. All three regional coalitions joined together for the first formal national meeting. Presentations were geared toward educators, clinicians and industry partners.
